Girl's Under 15 Excels

The Long Beach Soccer Club Girls Under 15 Beach Black team took second place at the Irvine Spring Classic this past Sunday March 16, 2008 which was held at the University of California at Irvine campus.

The girls played their first game of the tournament against The Real SoCal Blue Saturday morning winning 1-0 with the winning goal by Shea Davis.  They finished Saturday beating the FC Bratz from San Diego 2-1 with both goals being scored by Allie Conrad.  They entered Sunday's semifinal game in first place but had to beat Laguna Hills Eclipse Blue in order to advance to the final which they succeed in doing with a goal scored by Kelly Hayes for a win of 1-0 over Eclipse.

The final game was against force soccer club who had 2 wins and one tie going into the final.  At the end of regulation time the score was 0-0 sending the final game into penalty kicks to determine the Champion.  Both teams were tied in penalty kicks with one remaining girl to shoot for the Force which unfortunately got past the Long Beach goalie who throughout the tournament had only allowed one goal.  Due to the last shot being scored Long Beach Black took second place with a final score of 0-1.

We would like to acknowledge the hard work the girls put in this last weekend in their first tournament of the year.  Congratulations Long Beach Soccer Club Girls U15 Beach Black.
